Hypnotherapy & Sound Therapy
Find the Silence Beneath the Noise. Your Journey to Deep Stillness Starts Here.
I am very excited to launch my full-time therapy service. My name is Angela and I am a qualified sound therapist, having trained with the British Academy of Sound Therapy. I qualified in 2021 and since then have spent time facilitating individual sessions for clients as well as sound baths in North Cornwall.
I work with Gongs, Himalayan Singing Bowls, and Drum. The beauty of sound therapy is its gentle and tailored approach. We work together using a reflective process known as ‘The 7Rs’ to explore what you are feeling in your body — meaning you do not have to revisit any past trauma, as we focus on how you feel now. I am then able to prescribe the sound treatment to your individual needs. If you are carrying muscle tension, Himalayan Singing Bowls may be placed directly on the body — known as a ‘sonic cuddle’ — while for chronic pain, a gong or crystal bowl may be more effective. Every session is designed specifically for you.
Sound therapy works on two levels. The instruments are combined in a specific way to influence your brainwave frequencies, guiding you into an altered state of consciousness where you can be fully relaxed, accessing the part of your brain that is naturally there for problem solving. We are also approximately 60% water, and the vibrations of sound can be transformative — working on resistance you may be feeling within your body and helping you to release it. Every session ends with a gentle grounding sequence using rainsticks, shakers, and chimes to bring you back to full awareness — a deeply therapeutic process in itself.
I have 30 years’ experience working as a nurse across drug and alcohol services, prisons, acute hospitals, health visiting, and mental health. This background means I have the experience and knowledge to create a safe space and support you as an equal partner in the work we do together. You can trust that I will work with you to find your own solutions.
I know that starting therapy can feel daunting, which is why I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation so we can talk through what you need and make sure that sound therapy is right for you.
Sound therapy uses the resonant vibrations of instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks to guide the body and mind into a deep state of relaxation.
The carefully tuned frequencies help to release tension, quieten the mind, and restore a sense of balance. Many people describe the experience as profoundly calming — a reset for the nervous system.
It is now widely accepted that most illness is stress-related, which means treatments that promote deep relaxation can be a powerful way to support your health. Whether you are managing stress, struggling with sleep, or simply seeking a moment of stillness, sound therapy offers a gentle, non-invasive path to wellbeing.
Research shows that the BAST method is 16% more relaxing than conventional relaxation music, 6% more relaxing than treatments such as massage, and on average 64% more relaxing than other general relaxation methods.
Solution focused hypnotherapy is a modern, evidence-based approach that combines the best of talking therapy with the power of clinical hypnosis.
Rather than dwelling on past problems, this approach focuses on where you want to be and helps you take practical, positive steps to get there. Sessions typically include relaxed conversation followed by a guided trance — a pleasant state of focused relaxation.
It can be effective for a wide range of concerns including anxiety, low mood, phobias, sleep issues, confidence, and managing change.
