About
I am very excited to launch my full-time therapy service. My name is Angela and I am a qualified sound therapist, having trained with the British Academy of Sound Therapy. I qualified in 2021 and since then have spent time facilitating individual sessions for clients as well as sound baths in North Cornwall.
I have 30 years’ experience working as a nurse across drug and alcohol services, prisons, acute hospitals, health visiting, and mental health. This background means I have the experience and knowledge to create a safe space and support you as an equal partner in the work we do together. You can trust that I will work with you to find your own solutions.
I know that starting therapy can feel daunting, which is why I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation so we can talk through what you need and decide together whether sound therapy or solution focused hypnotherapy are best suited to your needs.
I work with Gongs, Himalayan Singing Bowls, and Drum. The beauty of sound therapy is its gentle and tailored approach. We work together using a reflective process known as ‘The 7Rs’ to explore what you are feeling — meaning you do not have to revisit any past trauma, as we focus on how you feel now. I am then able to prescribe the sound treatment to your individual needs. Every session is designed specifically for you.
influence your brainwave frequencies, guiding you into an altered state of consciousness where you can be fully relaxed, accessing the part of your brain that is naturally there for alleviate stress which also helps with healing. Every session ends with a gentle grounding sequence using rainsticks, shakers, and chimes to bring you back to full awareness — a deeply therapeutic process in itself.
Services
Sound Therapy
Sound therapy uses the resonant vibrations of instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks to guide the body and mind into a deep state of relaxation.
The carefully tuned frequencies help to release tension, quieten the mind, and restore a sense of balance. Many people describe the experience as profoundly calming — a reset for the nervous system.
It is now widely accepted that most illness is stress-related, which means treatments that promote deep relaxation can be a powerful way to support your health. Whether you are managing stress, struggling with sleep, or simply seeking a moment of stillness, sound therapy offers a gentle, non-invasive path to wellbeing.
Research shows that the BAST method is 16% more relaxing than conventional relaxation music, 6% more relaxing than treatments such as massage, and on average 64% more relaxing than other general relaxation methods.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Solution focused hypnotherapy is a modern, evidence-based approach that combines the best of talking therapy with the power of clinical hypnosis.
Rather than dwelling on past problems, this approach focuses on where you want to be and helps you take practical, positive steps to get there. Sessions typically include relaxed conversation followed by a guided trance — a pleasant state of focused relaxation.
It can be effective for a wide range of concerns including anxiety, low mood, phobias, sleep issues, confidence, and managing change.
Anxiety & Depression
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps with anxiety by focusing on preferred futures rather than past problems, using gentle trance work to reduce stress and promote positive thinking.
It combines solution-focused brief therapy with hypnosis to help the brain switch from negative, anxious forecasting to calm, goal-oriented visualisation.
Phobias
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy focuses on your preferred future — a life where that phobia no longer controls your choices.
Unlike traditional therapies that might have you relive the moment you first saw a spider or got stuck in an elevator, this focuses on where you want to be, rather than where you’ve been.
This is a gentle process. Because it doesn’t require you to “dive deep” into the trauma of the phobia, it is often a much less distressing experience than traditional “flooding” or exposure techniques.
It uses a specific technique often called “Rewind and Reframe,” which allows the brain to process a traumatic or fearful memory so it no longer triggers a physical fear response.
- Fear of flying

Sleep & Energy
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is naturally relaxing, but Solution Focused Hypnotherapy specifically targets the Rapid Eye Movement phase of sleep (REM). This is when the ‘stress bucket’ is being emptied.
This is particularly helpful for people who struggle with:
- Insomnia — Quietens the “racing mind” at night.
- Waking up tired — Improves the quality of restorative sleep.
Also Effective For
Peak Performance
Many athletes, students, and professionals use Solution Focused Hypnotherapy to get into a “flow state.”
- Exam Stress — Staying calm and recalling information effectively.
- Sports Performance — Visualising success and removing mental blocks.
- Business — Enhancing focus and decision-making.
Physical Health & Pain
While not a replacement for medical treatment, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is highly effective for conditions exacerbated by stress.
- IBS — Clinically recognised as effective for gut-directed issues.
- Chronic Pain — Using visualisation to “turn down the volume” on pain signals.
- Skin Conditions — Managing stress-triggered flare-ups like eczema or psoriasis.
Habits & Weight
Instead of focusing on why you have a “bad” habit, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy focuses on the person you want to become.
- Smoking Cessation — Usually handled in a single, intensive session.
- Weight Loss — Moving away from emotional eating and focusing on healthy, sustainable lifestyle choices.
Sound Therapy
Anxiety
Do you suffer from anxiety and find it hard to control your racing thoughts?
Sound therapy can help with this by helping you find a place of deep relaxation.
We initially work together to explore where and how you are holding this in your body
We replace ‘negative future thinking’ by bringing you into the ‘present moment’
Each session is bespoke as I will then play the appropriate instruments to help with the issues that are present
The British Academy of Sound Therapy has completed research that shows how consistent, targeted sound therapy can lower both cortisol and adrenaline levels.
Low Mood / Depression
Do you suffer from low mood/depression, are you stuck in thinking about the past and not able to look forward?
Sound therapy can help by helping you see the potential for a new way of being and living
We initially work together to explore where and how you are holding this in your body
During the session we aim to replace ‘the persistent heaviness’ by bringing you into the ‘present moment’
Each session is bespoke as I will then play the appropriate instruments to help with the issues that are present
Chronic Pain
Do you feel constantly tired?
Is it limiting what you can daily?
Is it affecting your quality of life?
Sound therapy can help as the playing of the instruments places you in an ‘altered state of consciousness’, allowing the brain to slow down to a relaxed state (alpha/theta waves) which can alter the brain’s perception of pain.
This process can ‘soften the system at all levels’ which can have a positive impact by promoting relaxation
Some frequencies played in sound therapy can stimulate the vagus nerve which helps to lower muscle tension.
